We certainly understand the desire to save money at every opportunity these days. But there comes a time when “The Handyman Special” ends up costing more than a new car. There’s also the inconvenience factor and the destruction of personal property.
Take the above photo as evidence that the easy way out can lead to the long road of heartache. If the repair had been done by professionals at the beginning, then property damage may never have occurred. The displacement of living space would never have occurred, not mention all of those handyman hours required to initially install of those temporary pipe repair clamps. The photo does not show all of the pipe clamps actually used in this debacle.
While everyone is up for a mechanical challenge, Verne & Ellsworth Hann confronts them on a daily basis with successful results.
At some point a bad decision with a $20,000 price tag was made by this handyman (Including the new piping, the new flooring, carpentry, plastering and painting). In hindsight, if he had to do it again, he probably wouldn’t have.
At some point in our lives, we are all potentially confronted by the $20,000 bad decision. A friend of a friend knows a guy who knows somebody who might be able to help you out and save you a little money. Or you make the less expensive good decision and call a qualified professional and know that you’re getting the job done right.
It’s your decision. Choose wisely.
