Settlers first came to Cleveland Heights in early 1800’s. These settlers lived in log cabins amongst a forest of gigantic trees. There were few dirt roads that provided treacherous access to the Heights, but the area attracted settlers because the land was good for farming.
In 1903, Cleveland Heights was incorporated as a village. On August 9, 1921, Cleveland Heights, six miles east of downtown Cleveland and 8 square miles, became a city.
Over the years, Cleveland Heights became a community of unique, tree-lined streets, dotted with beautiful neighborhood parks, homes and businesses, and beautifully crafted architecture. Today, Cleveland Heights retains the charm and character established in the early part of the twentieth century, and the architecture very much stands as it did in those early days.
Located in Cleveland Heights, brothers Verne & Ellsworth Hann started their HVAC business in 1952. They were among the region’s first to develop expertise in newly popular central air-conditioning.
Ellsworth’s son, William A. Hann took ownership 21 years later and expanded with plumbing, whole-house re-piping and innovative service contracts that gave customers worry-free maintenance.
In the year 2000, William’s sons Chris and Bill Hann, bought the company, Verne & Ellsworth Hann. They expanded in 2015, moving two blocks north, still located on Lee Road in Cleveland Heights.
Today, Verne & Ellsworth Hann is a 5-generation company. No other family has such a rich history serving the heating and cooling needs of Northeast Ohio homeowners.
